Date My Mate is a fun, in-person matchmaking event where friends pitch their single mates to a room full of singles using a short slide presentation (think PowerPoint or Google Slides). It's like a dating app, but with personality, laughter, and a friend who actually knows you vouching for you — all happening at Café One.
No! Date My Mate is open to everyone. You don't need to be a Café One member or have ever visited a Café One hub. However, if you are a member, you'll get early access to event registration and priority seating.
Tickets are normally ₦50,000, but for our launch event we're offering an early-bird discount of ₦10,000 — that's 80% off! This covers entry for both you and your mate, plus complimentary coffee. All attendees can enjoy Café One's menu at regular prices during the event. Grab the discount before it's gone!
The magic of Date My Mate is in the friend pitch — someone who knows you well presenting you to the crowd. Self-pitches aren't allowed, but you can absolutely attend as a single in the audience and connect with people during the mingle session.
We recommend 5 slides: an intro with their photo and a catchy headline, a highlight reel of what makes them great, a vibe check about their personality and ideal date, fun facts that spark conversation, and a closing slide with their photo and contact info. Check our Pitch Guide section for a detailed template.
After all pitches are done, we move into a mingle session where everyone can connect over coffee and conversation. The final slides of each pitch (with photos and contact info) are displayed on rotation so you can find the people you're interested in. No pressure — just genuine conversations.
Absolutely! The more the merrier. Your friends can attend as singles in the audience — they might just meet someone special too. The event is as much about community as it is about romance.
